American actor and musician Awkwafina began her career with hilarious songs that dealt with sexuality and identity with a an incisive and humorous perspective, before expanding her reach into Hollywood. Nora Lum, born in Forest Hills Queens to Chinese and Korean immigrants was her first musical encounter. She played the trumpet. After that, she took hip-hop and classical training. While at school, she studied journalism as well as women's studies in college even studying Mandarin in Beijing during a brief time. Following graduation, she decided to concentrate on music. After making headlines on the Internet Her single My Vag was a reaction to Mickey Avalon's My Dick. It eventually became a part of her first album Yellow Ranger. The album featured other viral hits like the body-positive Queef and the winking tour of her hometown NYC Bitche$1. The latter track connected directly into another venture Awkwafina's NYC Travel Guide, which was published in 2015. The singer decided to pursue acting careers following the completion of her previous two initiatives, as a writer and musician. Along with the early TV shows such as Girl Code, Tawk and Bad Rap she also appeared in films like Neighbors in Storks. She made her debut in 2018 and appeared in several high profile films, including Dude Ocean's 8, as well as Crazy Rich Asians. The EP came out in June.
